In early on this one! A packet of “Doggie Yums” in my back pocket. No wine, perhaps a coffee instead?
Ah yes, I remember now, the writing. Very good, it conjours up wonderful images.
I like the way that you create sanctuary behind the glass.

Hahaha! Perfect Bomber! Doggie Yums and Coffee, what more can a girl ask for?
Thank you for the compliment. I really like the flow of this piece, I’m thinking about adding some more to it. Maybe, not sure yet.
Anyhow, Toodle Pip to you too.

Interesting post… I found myself wondering about the girl and her parents, her history… so well done on that!

I felt her pain. I felt her fear. Very real and very sad. Your description was beautifully done and perfectly exhibited.

Thanks Nixy. It was hard to create a world around a fear of itching.
Hello Sharon, thank you for the compliment.

Great piece. I like the contrast with the lively kids outside. This could easily be the start of a bigger story. Good use of pace to, the image of the girl at the window slowly unfolding. Time is different behind the sterile window.

Thank you Dan. It could, couldn’t it? It’s now in my In Progress folder.
Cheers.

I agree with Dan; this sounds like the opening for a novel.
Then again, it would make a good ending, too!
Really moody, dark and rich, Christine. I want more.

Thank you Sue!
The young woman really did get under my skin, I was buggy for hours after writing it. lol.
Cheers.

Hmmmm can you say “Miss Havisham”? I was also struck by the way the “glass cage” suggests the common way that insects are displayed. Good job!

So you caught that, huh? I’m glad, you have a good eye Iain.
Thanks for commenting!

Well, that will teach me for being late to the party. I’m sure it was terrific though.
I am telling all the WAG folks about a neat flash fiction contest that starts tomorrow. It is on Maria Schnieder’s site, Editor Unleashed. She’s looking for fiction 1000 words or less, on any topic. No fees. Cash prizes. Nice lady with a great site. You ought to check it out.
I’ll try and get by a little quicker this week.

Aw, Jon if I knew you were stopping by I would have kept it up for a little while longer.
Thanks for the update, it sounds like an interesting contest. I’ll be sure to give it a look.
Cheers.

Thank you Jon! I hope I can make the deadline, been swamped. I just had two acceptances, sent out a handful more and am working on my manuscript.
And I’m smiling the whole time.
Cheers.

Wow, you’re doing great! I love to see a writer write, “acceptances.” Sounds so much nicer than “rejections.” Keep it up.

Doesn’t it though? lol. I love that word, although rejections are always hidden in the background.
Thanks Jon

Oh, dear, I missed it…sigh. Teach me for getting busy and putting wag blogs on the back burner.
Maybe next week- cheers!

I’m leaving next weeks up permanently so all you stragglers can enjoy, lol.
Hope life isn’t too busy, smelling flowers and staring at clouds can really calm the mind.
Cheers back Nancy!
